sennen cove rocks

Cornwall is a great place to holiday not least becaue it has some fantastic restaurants. You can travel to the famous Fifteen in Newquay or eat locally in the Cove at Rosie's Cafe - Little Bo. Here are some local places, and some of my favourites a short drive away.

Sennen Cove

The best food in Sennen Cove is at Little Bo Cafe. It's open for breakfast, lunch and tea all year round at the weekends and all week in the holiday season. Rosie also does evening meals, just ask when she's open and book, as she fills up fast. You bring your own wine and she usually has a theme.

At the Old Success in Sennen Cove you can get traditional pub fare, and in the holiday season you can eat out on the high terrace looking out over the beach where they have a pizza oven. The pub does packed lunches as well. If you venture up to Sennen itself you will find the First and Last pub. Both pubs have music nights.

The Beach Restaurant is set on the beach, with a kiosk for takeaway tea, icecream and pasties; and a restaurant with an outside cafe terrace where you can watch the surfers. This has just been takenover by ben Tunnicliffe who also owns the Tolcarne in Newlyn. They plan to open all year round.

Finally we have a fish and chip shop and icecream kiosk on the seafront, and a really good fish and chip shop in Sennen itself.

Further Afield

These are our favourites.

Mousehole: 2 Fore Street is the best- an exceptional fish restaurant by the harbour. For cheaper but very good food try The Old Coastguards Hotel - new chef and great views.

Newlyn: The Tolcarne Inn for amazing fish in a good pub atmosphere

St Just: The Cook Book - go for tea and browse over 200 secondhand books.
Near Zennor there is the excellent Gurnards Head Inn - fantastic food in casual dining.

St Ives: We all love Porthmeor Beach Cafe in front of the Tate. It has a great Tapas menu for lunch - lovely desserts too, you can sit outside with overhead heaters and rugs if its breezy. Porthminster Beach Cafe is also really good.

If you fancy a treat then travel to Watergate Bay to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen for the Dinner Tasting Menu, but book well in advance.
